Calamities Relief
Since 2025, Purvanchal Sewa Sansthan (PSS) has been actively engaged in providing vital succour to communities devastated by both natural and manmade calamities. Recognising the urgent need for swift intervention during crises, PSS has mobilised essential resources to restore dignity and comfort to affected individuals. These critical humanitarian activities are being implemented through the generous financial support of Amazon India and DonateKart, renowned as India’s most trusted donation platform.
The impact of this partnership was profoundly felt during the devastating 2025 floods in Prayagraj. PSS launched a massive relief operation, successfully reaching 5,000 families stranded or displaced by the rising waters. To meet their immediate nutritional and survival needs, each family was provisioned with a high-quality blanket alongside a comprehensive grocery kit. Designed to sustain a household through acute displacement, each kit contained 5 kg of rice, 5 kg of wheat flour, 2 kg of tuar dal, 1 kg of black gram, 1 kg of semolina, and 1 kg of sugar, supplemented by essential ground spices and 1 litre of mustard oil.
This structured response framework allowed PSS to act with equal agility when manmade disasters struck. In May 2026, a catastrophic fire broke out in the Vikas Nagar slums in Lucknow destroying homes and livelihoods. PSS immediately intervened to assist 100 affected families, distributing identical grocery kits to ensure immediate food security.
Simultaneously, when a severe cyclone struck Prayagraj in May 2026, PSS extended its reach to an additional 500 families. For these victims, survival required more than sustenance; thus, PSS expanded its aid packages. Alongside the standard grocery kit, families received critical temporary shelter materials—consisting of durable tarpaulin and bed spreads—and a comprehensive hygiene kit equipped with a bucket, mug, soap, toothpaste, and toothbrush to prevent the spread of disease in overcrowded displacement camps. Through these coordinated efforts, PSS continues to normalise life for vulnerable populations amidst chaos.
